They Covered Up My Botched Surgery, Now I Am Bankrupting Their Entire Hospital System

Chapter 22: The Ultimatum

Elena stared intensely at the incredibly thick settlement contract, her heart hammering violently against her ribs. Twenty-five million dollars in guaranteed long-term disability compensation sat just inches from her trembling fingertips.

This massive, historic personal injury payout would completely eradicate her crushing medical debt. She could afford the world’s most elite, highly specialized spinal rehabilitation clinics and a fully accessible, custom-built mansion.

All she had to do was legally sign away the absolute truth.

"If you sign this highly restrictive corporate settlement agreement, he will legally operate again," Marcus warned quietly, refusing to push her in either direction. "This multi-million dollar medical malpractice liability payout buys your complete, eternal silence."

Elena slowly picked up the heavy gold pen. She thought about the grueling, agonizing physical therapy sessions and the completely dismissive insurance claim denials that had ruined the last three years of her life.

She deeply wanted the exhausting legal war to be entirely over. She positioned the expensive pen right over the strictly enforced signature line.

Suddenly, her encrypted burner phone violently vibrated against her paralyzed leg, loudly interrupting the incredibly tense settlement negotiation. The caller ID flashed Chloe’s name.

"Do not sign that catastrophic corporate payout agreement, Elena!" Chloe screamed frantically through the encrypted connection, the deafening background noise of the hospital echoing loudly.

Elena dropped the gold pen instantly, her blood running cold as pure, unadulterated terror seized her chest. "Chloe, what is happening? Are you safe?"

"He manipulated the hospital board to temporarily reinstate his surgical privileges right now," Chloe gasped, her voice breaking into a terrified, hysterical sob. "Dr. Sterling is scheduled to perform a deeply invasive spinal fusion on a ten-year-old girl in exactly one hour."
