The 50-Million Dollar Loophole: How One Widow Broke the Bank
Chapter 7: The Board-Up
Marcus's words hung in the air like a death sentence. Julian didn't flinch, but Eleanor felt her knees buckle.
"What do you mean, dead?" Julian demanded. Marcus shook his head grimly. "Stress-induced heart attacks. Suicides. Sterling pushes elderly victims into total ruin. It's a calculated fiduciary duty breach."
Julian grabbed his mother’s arm. "We're going back to the house to secure the physical property deed. Marcus, start drafting an emergency injunction."
They sped back to the historic Victorian home, tires squealing as they turned onto the quiet suburban street. Julian slammed on the brakes.
A large, unmarked white van was parked aggressively on Eleanor's front lawn. Four burly men in heavy work boots and toolbelts were marching toward the porch.
They were carrying sheets of thick plywood and heavy-duty nail guns. They were initiating an illegal property seizure before the forty-eight hours were even up.
"Hey!" Julian roared, sprinting out of the car before it was fully in park. "Get off this property! You do not have a court-ordered eviction notice!"
The foreman, a massive man with a scarred jaw, ignored him completely. He signaled to his crew, and one man raised a nail gun toward the historic stained-glass front door.
"I said back off!" Julian yelled, putting himself between the worker and the door, his legal authority useless against brute force.
One contractor pulls a crowbar on Julian when he intervenes.
