She Stole My Milk. Then Her Lawyer Sent a Demand Letter.

Section 13 Chapter 13: The Ultimate Reversal

The recreation center was packed with about fifty residents sitting in folding chairs. Victoria stood at the front podium, looking entirely too smug as she droned on about landscaping regulations.

Beatrice was sitting in the front row, wrapped in a shawl, looking like the picture of elderly frailty.

"Now, moving on to new business," Victoria announced, her eyes locking onto me in the back row. "We have a severe breach of community privacy standards regarding unauthorized surveillance."

I didn't wait to be called upon. I stood up, carrying my laptop, and walked straight down the center aisle.

"Actually, Victoria, I'm glad you brought up the cameras," I said loudly, plugging an HDMI cable from my laptop into the room's large projector screen.

"Mr. Bennett, you are out of order!" Victoria snapped, her face flushing angrily. "Security, remove him."

"This will only take ten seconds," I said, hitting play.

The dark, grainy video filled the screen. The room went dead silent as they watched the woman in the hoodie swing the metal pipe, shattering the camera lens. When the hood slipped back, an audible gasp rippled through the crowd.

"Is that... Victoria?" Mrs. Higgins whispered loudly.

"That's a felony," I announced to the room. "Destruction of private property. I'm filing the police report tonight."

Victoria stepped back from the podium, her mouth opening and closing like a fish. She had completely lost control of the room. Neighbors began shouting, demanding an explanation.

I looked at Beatrice in the front row. The smugness was gone. Her eyes darted around frantically.

I had won. I had publicly exposed the corrupt HOA President and ruined their extortion plot.

But as I reached to unplug my laptop, Beatrice suddenly stood up. She let out a horrific, guttural gasp, clutching her chest with both hands.

Her eyes rolled back into her head, and she collapsed violently to the linoleum floor, convulsing.
